MS symptoms: Underestimation of Anxiety & Depression in MS Patients

AnxietyDepressionCould people with multiple sclerosis have increased anxiety and depression as their disability progresses? To me that is a no brainer, of course they do! However, research studies have mixed results on the hypothesis. A new research has discovered there is a correlation between disability and increased levels of anxiety and depression even more so than other disabling diseases. The numbers and severity are thought to be underestimated by care givers and medical professionals. I do believe this study has limits in validity given it was completed only in the UK through a self-reporting, voluntary, online portal. That said, I believe it is important to point out the underestimation belief. Mental health is critical to me in overcoming the obstacles of multiple sclerosis.
