MS symptoms: Causes of Memory Loss in MS

MemoryLossCauseMS causes memory loss which is heightened when heat, anxiety, stress, depression, lack of sleep, and fatigue enter the picture. The immune system attacks the brain causing demyelination and scar tissue called lesions. Multiple lesions in the brain breakdown nerve impulses creating memory loss. An overactive or under active thyroid can cause memory problems as can fibromyalgia. Prescription medication may be a culprit. Use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco, lack of sleep or good nutrition, having stress, anxiety, depression, or other medical problems unrelated to MS such as high blood pressure, stroke, and dementia can all cause memory difficulties.
