MS symptoms: Canes of My Life

CaneBLAST from the PAST! The next two weeks I am reposting my favorite posts from the past. Enjoy while I vacation in England!

The good news is I don’t always need a cane. They come in handy when I travel, shop for longer periods of time, when fatigue would otherwise prevent my involvement in an activity, on the occasional vertigo spin of my world, etc. They provide security knowing that if I need it, I have it. They are especially nice when waiting in lines at the airport since travel is already exhausting. The canes of my life have included sturdy sticks found along hiking trails, a purchased trail walking stick, chairs on wheels in smaller stores, to a solid walking cane with a seat, and most recently a sports spectator, lightweight seat with a cane. This weekend I added an umbrella to the list as I walked in the rain along the rocky beach.  Hey, if it works… use it! By the way, sit with the handle between your knees and hang on to prevent falling.
